Highlighting a Special Photo: Layout

posted in: Layouts | 0

We had some beautiful family photos taken this summer. It was my parents’ 40th anniversary in July, so as a gift from all of us, we hired a photographer and had an hour session with all of us.  We took the photos at a farm where my sister-in-law and nephews ride horses.  It was a beautiful farm with lots of great places for photos.

As a gift to my brother and his family (and to my sister, but that one’s coming later) I created a layout with a large photo of their family along with a smaller one of our entire group.  If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen this.

Special photo, Blue layout

I know this isn’t the best photo.  I took it quickly after I carefully put it in the frame.  I didn’t want to get fingerprints on the glass again, so didn’t take it out just for a photo.

I started with the old Free to Be Me promo kit and added some Paper Fundamentals and washi tape and sequins.  The card on the right of the main photo was from a free download CTMH had last year.  A zip strip from the paper added the last bit.

This was the perfect gift for my brother and his family.  It allowed me to use my talents and I knew they would enjoy having their favourite photo highlighted in this way.  I loved creating this.

Don’t be afraid to create a layout just for the purpose of displaying it.  There are a number of different 12×12 frames out there now.  This was a simple one I got at Michaels, but I also have one of the Designed Decor Shadow Boxes CTMH has for my own display pages, so I can easily switch them up.

My next post will show the layout I created for my sister.  Stay tuned!
