MarchSOTM2016

This month we have a sweet stamp set to get you in the mood for spring!  I don’t know about where you are, but here where I live we’re expecting a dumping of snow tonight.  I’m very ready for spring to stick around.  I’ll live vicariously through these sweet little birds and butterflies.  Here’s what the stamp set looks like.

1603+Sunshine+Birdies

I decided to break out my watercolour paper and paints and have some fun with these images.  Sometimes you just need to play and see if what’s in your head can actually make it to paper, right?

For my first card, I stamped the images first, and also created a mask for the bird and sun so I could pain in other colours after doing a wash of blue.  I really wasn’t sure it would work since all I had was cardstock and washi tape.  Here’s my card.

After completing the blue wash I let it dry and then painted in the tree branch, bird, and sun.  I love how it turned out!  Inside I stamped the sentiment “You are my sunshine.”

Here’s my second card.Mar SOTM butterfly card by Krista Ritskes #simplycreatingFor this one, I stamped all the images first and then did a dry wash over each of the butterfly images.  I used a small paintbrush to paint the words.  Then I added some Clear Sparkles.

I hope you’ll enjoy the other projects created with this stamp set.  Hop on over to Michelle’s blog and check out the rest of the hop!

Happy Creating!

Clever idea to mask using the paints. Both cards are beautiful.
