Happy Times Card: Oh, Yes You Can!

posted in: Cards, Promotions | 4

I have said it before, but the paper for this year’s National Scrapbooking Month, Happy Times, is the best so far!  I LOVE this paper packet and stamp set.  They’re so fun to work with and full of creative possibility.  And, to top it off, you can get the paper for free with a qualifying order.

I had the chance on Sunday afternoon to do some crafting.  I was just enjoying the chance to play with this paper and stamp set.  Since creating is a big part of my business, it was nice to be able to just create for the sake of creating.  Here is the first card I made:

I did some fun inking of the flowers on this card.  I inked them in Pomegranate, stamped off on a scrap piece of paper, then rolled them in Pomegranate again before stamping them.  It gives a lovely two-toned flower, without needing to get out more colours of ink.  The stems were stamped with Fern ink.  I also stamped the dots in third generation, meaning I stamped off twice on scrap paper before stamping them on my project, also using Pomegranate ink.  All the paper, except the White Daisy circle, came from the Happy Times paper pack.  I sponged all the edges with Slate ink to give it a soft look.  The sentiment is stamped in Slate, and comes from a brand new stamp set called Sunshine on a Cloudy Day.

I think my favourite part of this paper is gold foil touches on two of the patterns.  Here’s a close up of that yummy paper:Happy Times Encouragement close up by Krista Ritskes #simplycreating

I also added some Gold Sequins and Pink Enamel Gems.  And you can see here, that I popped the circle using Thin 3-D Foam Tape.

I used the sketch found at Sketch-N-Scrap for my inspiration.
