Cross Canada Hop: en Francais!

posted in: Cards | 14

Bonjour / Hola / Hello!
Welcome to our March Blog Hop featuring CTMH stamp sets that are available in French, Spanish and English. When you flip through the catalogues those stamps are identified with a World globe.

We have an amazing group of talented ladies all across Canada, and they sure would love to hear from you, so before hopping onto the next person, take a moment and leave a comment about what you loved.

If you’ve arrived from Diana’s blog, Farmer Di Stamps, then you are in the right place!  If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, and continue from East Coast to West Coast, you can start here at Michelle’s blog, My Creations.  She’s also got a complete list of all the blogs on the hop in case you get lost along the way.

Here’s the card I made.

I had Hello Lovely on my desk from some past projects so instead of packing it all away, I used it for this card.  I’m trying hard not to hoard paper and so my goal was to use only patterned paper and no cardstock.  🙂  Gotta use it up!  All my supplies were from the Hello Lovely Workshop Your Way, including the embellishments, gold glimmer dots and blush ribbon.  I also used a sponge and Desert Sank ink to edge all the papers.  I love the softer look it gives to these beautiful papers.  My card was inspired by last week’s Atlantic Hearts sketch.

Here’s a closer look at the embellishments:

I used Whisper ink to stamp the sentiment from the French version of Happy to be Friends.  Here’s a better look at it:

Check out all the great sayings, in a beautiful font, found in this stamp set:

Your next stop on the Cross Canada Hop is Charlene who is being hosted by Dominique at Fun2cre8.

Thanks for hopping with us!  To purchase any of the items seen in our blog hop today, contact your local consultant to place an order.

Happy Creating!

Scrapbooking Heritage Photos

My poor blog has been so neglected lately, but I hope to change that.  I’m going to try posting once a week, so stay tuned!

For this week’s post, I wanted to share a layout with you that I just love, and not just because it has a great big “LOVE” on it.  😉

Twin Love layout by Krista Ritskes #simplycreating

I’ve been scrapbooking some of my baby photos.  Sometimes I use the actual photo, but most of the time I scan the original and print it out, placing the original back in my baby book.  I had to do this with most of these photos because they’re glued right in to my book.  This gives me the freedom to do whatever I like with the photos, crop, ink, distress, without being worried about wrecking them.

Back to the page, aren’t those two adorable?  My twin brother and I were two peas in a pod when we were little (still are, to be honest) and we got into all kinds of mischief.  You’d think by looking at these three photos that my mom dressed us alike all the time, but I think we only had 3 matching outfits.  The red one I’m wearing is a little jumper and my own daughter wore it for a little bit.  Of course I created a layout about that ages ago.  🙂

I focused on the Fundamental Basics line to create this layout.  I love the versatility of this line!  Here’s a close up of the details and that coppery title.

Don’t be afraid to use current and fun papers and embellishments for your heritage photos.

Share Love and Paper Hugs with Operation Smile

posted in: Cards, Workshops | 0

If you haven’t already guessed, I’m a huge supporter of Operation Smile. I’ve seen what a huge impact a medical mission has on people and I love that Close To My Heart has partnered with an organization that gives kids their smiles back.

My last crop, on January 28, raised over $1400 for this great charity. But I’m not done raising money.  Close To My Heart has a special stamp set called True Love and $7 from the sale of this set goes to Operation Smile.  I love that! So I’m doing a workshop where you’ll get your own stamp set as part of the fee.

Aren’t these kids sweet? I especially love the “This card is a paper hug” sentiment.

The deadline to sign up is Friday, Feb. 10, so contact me right away to claim your spot.

We are back from Haiti and I’ve finally had some time to create!  It’s taken me some time to get back into the swing of things, and I may someday write a blog post about our experience, but for now I’m focusing on all things crafty.

This month’s stamp of the month is all about Christmas.  Now is the time if you want to make your own cards to send this year.
