April is all about getting ‘er done!

It’s a new month and I will admit, a SUPER busy one for me!  So, I’m only going to pop in quickly this week to share our awesome promotion.  If you’re like me, life is busy, and sometimes it means that our crafting time gets much shorter.  Enter Close To My Heart’s Cut Above kits!  We have 2 fabulous kits available right now. {There’s more coming! … Shhh.  I didn’t tell you that. 😉 }

The first kit is a baby-themed one, but I’ve seen people do pet pages or other things with this set as well.

Each set comes with everything you need to complete a 2-page layout, and 2 pocket-pages (both sides), including the protectors.  The only thing you need is adhesive!

Here’s the other one: a wedding themed kit.  But again, I’ve seen people create family and friend-themed pages with this kit.

Aren’t they gorgeous?!?!  And they assembly in a snap.  It’ll probably take you longer to pick which photos to use!

So, what’s the promo?  You can get these kits for 50% off this month!  That’s only $9.50 (shipping will be charged on the retail price).  And, if you join the CTMH family as a consultant, you get to choose a kit for FREE.

Don’t miss out on your chance to get some treasured memories into an album quickly and simply.  Click here to check them out.

You are “Tea”riffic, honest!

I really love this month’s stamp of the month.  The tea cups are so fun to work with, even though I haven’t had as much time to play with them as I hoped.  Here’s a card I created with Hello Lovely.

This is a great design for using up a bunch of little scraps.  I stamped the image in Desert Sand ink on the patterned paper, just like on the layout in my last post.  Here’s a close up of that tea cup and all that yummy bling.  🙂

Can’t wait to to give this go someone who needs a pick-me-up.

Don’t forget that this great sale ends tomorrow!  Pop over to my shopping website to see what’s still available.

And, speaking of great deals, I’ve got some super deals on my used (and a few new) stamp sets.  Click here to check ’em out.

Sound of Music and a Cup of Tea

On March 4 our church held a Sound of Music Sing-a-Long to raise money for a cross-country bike ride to end poverty called Sea to Sea.  A couple of members from our church are participating.  I grew up listening to the soundtrack on a record that my mom had, and looking at all the photos from the movie on an extra flap on the cover.  We watched the movie too, of course, but I remember listening to the music much more.  So, I invited my mom and sister to join my daughter and me.  And then I immediately scrapbooked it, like I always do.  Ha!  (Like I never do!)

I used the Swan Lake paper suite because even though it’s now retired I felt like it fit all the pieces I wanted to add to my layout perfectly, and that flower paper could have been inspired by curtains, like the play clothes Maria makes … It’s possible … maybe.  🙂

For the title I just cut the ticket in half and used the other half in another spot.  I only had one photo, a selfie taken of all four of us (3 generations!) but I had a lot of fun things we received at the show that I wanted to keep as mementos.  Enter the flip flap.  I love these things!  Not only do they allow you to add more photos to a layout but I used them to add all the fun props we got.  Now, I had no idea if they would be photo-safe, so as I assembled my page I made sure to put my one photo in a flip flap separate from the other elements.  Another good use for flip flaps.

Here’s how I use them:

It gave me lots of room to journal since I didn’t want anything but patterned paper in the same flip flap as my photo.  I added some little tags on the edges of each flap so it’s clear they can be flipped.  Then, when I put this layout in an album, I’ll cut slits in the page protector and slide them through so they sit on top.

I also wanted to use the March stamp of the month.

So, I stamped the blank tea cup on a pattern I thought would work for a tea cup and happily trimmed it out.

Here’s a look at that part of the layout:

If you ever get a chance to attend a sing-a-long, go!  It was a lot of fun, even for my daughter who hadn’t even seen the whole movie beforehand.

And dig out those older papers to use ’em up, especially if you love them so much you’re afraid to cut into them.  😉

Happy Creating!

Here’s the card I made.

I had Hello Lovely on my desk from some past projects so instead of packing it all away, I used it for this card.  I’m trying hard not to hoard paper and so my goal was to use only patterned paper and no cardstock.  🙂  Gotta use it up!  All my supplies were from the Hello Lovely Workshop Your Way, including the embellishments, gold glimmer dots and blush ribbon.  I also used a sponge and Desert Sank ink to edge all the papers.  I love the softer look it gives to these beautiful papers.  My card was inspired by last week’s Atlantic Hearts sketch.

Here’s a closer look at the embellishments:

I used Whisper ink to stamp the sentiment from the French version of Happy to be Friends.  Here’s a better look at it:
